Accepting new clients

Welcome! My name is Sehrish, and I am a Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee at Horizon Family and Community Services. I believe that healing begins with feeling heard, understood, and accepted. My goal is to create a space where clients feel comfortable showing up as they are while we work together toward meaningful change.

Before beginning my clinical training, I built my career in education, where I continue to work with school districts across California to improve outcomes for students. Through this work, I have developed a strong understanding of the educational system, including the IEP process, and have partnered with educators and families to support students with diverse learning needs. These experiences strengthened my passion for advocacy and reinforced the importance of meeting people where they are.

As a first-generation immigrant who came to the United States from Pakistan as a child, I understand many of the challenges that can accompany major life transitions, adapting to new environments, balancing multiple cultural identities, and navigating systems that may feel unfamiliar. These experiences have shaped my commitment to providing culturally responsive care and have inspired my interest in working with immigrants, refugees, and individuals navigating significant life changes.

I enjoy working with children, adolescents, adults, and families experiencing anxiety, stress, life transitions, self-esteem concerns, school-related challenges, and relationship or family difficulties. I also have a particular interest in supporting individuals with learning differences and helping families navigate educational and community systems.

I strive to provide a warm, collaborative, and strengths-based approach to therapy. As I continue my clinical training, I am especially interested in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Trauma-Focused CBT, while tailoring therapy to each client's unique needs, goals, and experiences.

I am fluent in English, Urdu, Punjabi, and Hindi, and I value creating an environment where clients from diverse cultural backgrounds feel respected, understood, and empowered to bring their whole selves into the therapy room.

I am currently earning my Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at National University and receive ongoing clinical supervision from Susan Harrison, LMFT (#93612) to ensure ethical, compassionate, and effective care.

I recognize that reaching out for therapy can feel vulnerable. Whether you're seeking support for yourself or your child, my hope is that you leave each session feeling understood, empowered, and a little less alone. I would be honored to support you on your journey toward healing, resilience, and personal growth.
